GRAND OPENING THURSDAY JUNE 20, 2019
For Immediate Release: A new art venue is set to launch in the heart of Downtown Easton’s historic and cultural district. Director Lisa M. Kovacs is pleased to announce that Gallery On Fourth, a fine art gallery, will open to the public on Thursday evening, June 20 at its new home at 401 Northampton Street. Ideally situated at the corner of Fourth and Northampton Streets, the Gallery is just steps from Center Square, the State Theater, Easton Public Market, the Crayola Experience, and a full complement of galleries, antique and specialty shops and restaurants.
Gallery On Fourth will present the work of local, regional and national artists through an ongoing series of solo and group exhibitions. It will also host artist talks, educational lectures and intimate live performances and film screenings. “The curatorial program is developed through a direct collaboration between the artist and me” says Ms. Kovacs. “It’s an organic, intuitive process that is not defined by seeking a specific genre or medium of art-making. I’m driven to exhibit art that speaks to me, art that inspires, delights, challenges, illuminates and encourages dialogue.”
Gallery On Fourth’s mission is manifold. As Ms. Kovacs explains: “We will present compelling and varied exhibitions for anyone who simply enjoys looking at art. We will support our artists by connecting them with art buyers and museum professionals. We will provide concierge-level service to both novice and seasoned art collectors. We will offer information and insight about our artists, their work and the art market to those who seek it. We will engender the trust of our artists, clients and the art community at large by conducting our business with honesty, integrity and transparency.”
Ms. Kovacs founded Gallery On Fourth in 2018 at the Cigar Factory Artist Studios building in Allentown. During a winter hiatus, she decided to relocate her business to Easton after being introduced to Kim Kmetz, Director of the Easton Main Street Initiative. According to Ms. Kovacs “Within minutes of our first meeting, Kim’s knowledge, enthusiasm and advocacy convinced me that Easton was the place to be. In truth, Easton had never left my mind as a potential location for the Gallery. The city’s remarkable renaissance over the last 15 to 20 years is due in large part to the grass roots efforts of its long-time residents and business owners who brought their vision for their city to fruition. I found this very appealing. And of course, Easton’s proximity to all of the Northeast’s major metropolitan areas was another key selling point. Throughout my entire relocation journey, I have received invaluable guidance and support not only from Kim and her team, but from the Greater Easton Development Partnership, the City of Easton government agencies and the entire business community as well. I know I’ve made the right decision!”
Ms. Kovacs holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from Rutgers University and a Master of Arts degree in American Fine and Decorative Art from Sotheby’s Institute of Art – New York. Her professional background includes museum, auction house, art fair and exhibition development experience. Gallery On Fourth is her first independent brick-and-mortar venture.
Gallery On Fourth will be open to the public on Thursdays and Fridays 5 – 8 PM, Saturdays 11 AM – 6 PM, Sundays 12 – 5 PM, and by appointment. For further inquiries, please contact the gallery at firstname.lastname@example.org or 610-905-4627.
